Host Agreement
This agreement outlines the terms and obligations for Hosts listing their spaces on EventSpace. By creating a listing, you agree to these terms.

Important
By listing a space on EventSpace, you enter into a binding agreement with EventSpace Inc. This agreement supplements the general Terms of Service and applies specifically to your role as a Host. Please read all sections carefully.
1. Host Obligations
As an EventSpace Host, you are responsible for providing a safe, accurately described, and well-maintained space. Your obligations include:
Space Maintenance
- Maintain the space in a clean, safe, and functional condition before every booking
- Ensure all amenities listed in your profile are available and in working order
- Address any maintenance issues or hazards before Guest arrival
- Provide adequate heating, cooling, ventilation, and lighting as appropriate
Accurate Descriptions
- All listing descriptions, photos, and amenities must accurately reflect the current condition of the space
- Any restrictions, limitations, or shared areas must be clearly disclosed
- Maximum capacity must be stated accurately and must not exceed local occupancy limits
- Pricing must be transparent with no hidden fees or surcharges not disclosed in the listing
Communication
- Respond to booking inquiries within 24 hours
- Be available (or designate a contact) during booked events for emergencies
- Provide Guests with clear check-in instructions, house rules, and emergency information
- Notify Guests promptly of any changes affecting their booking
2. Insurance Requirements
By listing on EventSpace, you confirm and agree to the following insurance requirements:

General Liability Insurance: You confirm that you hold, or will obtain prior to your first booking, general liability insurance that covers events hosted at your property with a minimum coverage of $1,000,000 CAD per occurrence.

Property Insurance: You confirm that your property insurance covers commercial or event-use activity, or that you have notified your insurer of such use.

Proof of Insurance: EventSpace may request proof of insurance at any time. Failure to provide proof within 14 days of a request may result in listing suspension.

EventSpace is Not an Insurer: EventSpace does not provide insurance coverage to Hosts or Guests. Reliance on your own insurance coverage is your sole responsibility.
3. Local Law Compliance
You are solely responsible for understanding and complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and bylaws. This includes but is not limited to:
Zoning & Permits
- Municipal zoning regulations permitting event use
- Building permits and occupancy certificates
- Special event permits if required
- Alcohol service licences (Smart Serve, AGCO)
Noise & Community
- Municipal noise bylaws and quiet hours
- Parking regulations and restrictions
- Neighbourhood notification requirements
- Waste management and disposal bylaws
Fire & Safety
- Ontario Fire Code compliance
- Maximum occupancy enforcement
- Emergency exit and egress requirements
- Smoke and carbon monoxide alarm requirements
Food & Health
- Food handling permits if food is prepared on-site
- Health and sanitation standards
- Pool and hot tub safety regulations
- Accessibility requirements under the AODA
EventSpace is not responsible for verifying your compliance with local laws. If your listing is found to be in violation, we may suspend or remove it without notice.
4. Safety Standards
All listed spaces must meet the following minimum safety standards:
Mandatory Safety Requirements
EventSpace reserves the right to request photo evidence of safety features and to conduct or commission safety inspections. Listings that do not meet safety standards will be suspended until compliance is demonstrated.
5. Cancellation Responsibilities
Host-Initiated Cancellations
We understand that circumstances may require you to cancel a booking. However, Host cancellations negatively affect Guests and the platform. The following consequences apply:
- The Guest will receive a full refund for any Host-initiated cancellation
- A cancellation fee may be charged to you depending on the notice given:
- More than 7 days before event: No cancellation fee
- 3 to 7 days before: $50 CAD cancellation fee
- Less than 3 days before: $100 CAD cancellation fee plus a temporary listing ranking penalty
- Day-of cancellation: $150 CAD cancellation fee, listing ranking penalty, and an account review
Repeated cancellations (three or more within a 6-month period) may result in account suspension or termination.
6. Payment Terms
Payout Schedule
Host payouts are initiated 24 hours after the scheduled event start time, provided no disputes or damage claims have been filed. Processing takes 3 to 5 business days depending on your financial institution.
Payout Methods
Payouts are processed through Stripe Connect. You must set up a valid Stripe account with accurate banking information to receive payouts. Supported methods include:
- Direct deposit to a Canadian bank account
- Stripe balance (for future use on Stripe-connected platforms)
Payout Holds
Payouts may be held in the following circumstances:
- A Guest has filed a dispute or damage claim
- EventSpace is investigating a policy violation related to the booking
- Incomplete or unverified identity or tax information
- Suspicious or potentially fraudulent activity
Tax Reporting
You are responsible for reporting all income earned through EventSpace on your tax returns. EventSpace may issue tax information documents as required by Canadian law. Consult a tax professional for guidance on your specific situation.
7. Platform Commission & Fees
EventSpace charges a host service fee (commission) on each completed booking. The current fee structure is:

EventSpace reserves the right to modify fee structures with 30 days' advance notice. Changes will not affect bookings already confirmed at the time of the change.
8. Content Ownership
Your Content
You retain ownership of all photos, descriptions, and other content you upload to your listing (“Host Content”). By uploading content to EventSpace, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, display, and distribute your content for the purposes of operating and promoting the EventSpace platform.
Content Standards
- All photos must accurately represent the current state of the space
- You must have the right to use and licence all content you upload
- Content must not infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
- Stock photos or AI-generated images must be clearly labelled as such
Licence Termination
The content licence granted to EventSpace continues for a reasonable period after you remove content or deactivate your listing, to allow for cached versions and archival purposes. We will make commercially reasonable efforts to remove your content from active display within 30 days of your request.
9. Termination
By You
You may deactivate your listing(s) or close your Host account at any time. You must honour all confirmed bookings prior to deactivation or arrange for cancellation in accordance with Section 5. Outstanding payouts will be processed according to the standard schedule.
By EventSpace
EventSpace may suspend or terminate your Host privileges, or remove your listings, at any time and at our sole discretion, including but not limited to:
- Violation of this Host Agreement or the Terms of Service
- Repeated complaints from Guests (consistently low ratings below 3.5 stars)
- Failure to maintain safety standards
- Fraudulent or deceptive listing practices
- Failure to provide proof of insurance when requested
- Illegal activity occurring on the premises during a booking
10. Indemnification
Indemnification Clause
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless EventSpace Inc., its directors, officers, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use of the platform or any breach of this Host Agreement
- The condition, safety, legality, or suitability of your listed property
- Any injury, death, or property damage occurring at your venue during a booking
- Your failure to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or bylaws
- Any claim by a third party related to your listing or event-hosting activities
- Your failure to obtain or maintain adequate insurance coverage
- Infringement of third-party intellectual property rights in your listing content
This indemnification obligation survives the termination of your account and this agreement.
